Eze Escudero: I try to instill in my children the values that I learned from rugby
The choice of a wrong path in life and a 7-year sentence separated Ezequiel from his children, Valentín and Laureano. At only 20 years old, Ezequiel was in different prisons where he experienced violence and loneliness up close. The outlook was not very encouraging, until rugby came into his life.
Today Ezequiel is a different man: He is free, he has been working in the company for 8 months @grupodassargentina , plays on the Espartanos Rugby Club team and is building a new relationship with his family. This is his story:
“Before, my relationship with my children was complicated. They are children of different mothers and there was not much relationship between them. I didn't see Valen for many years and Lau, although she saw him once a month, she always left crying because he wanted to stay the night with me. That was very sad.
Today, although they don't live with me, we are a family. Every 15 days they come to sleep with me, they can come to have a snack in the afternoons and we have a WhatsApp group where we always talk. Valen is very protective of Lau and they love each other very much. They both accompany me when I have a rugby game and I accompany them when they train. They love sport.
I try to instill in them the values that I learned from rugby: I tell them that they have to take care of their teammate as they take care of the ball, not to beat the opponent, maintain respect and humility. Knowing that sometimes you lose, but you lose by playing, not by giving up and that there will always be a revenge.
I tell them to study, to give others the good values, the customs that mom, dad or grandparents taught them. And above all, enjoy being alive. But enjoy it thoroughly. I wish them to grow up free and happy, with peace of mind and surrounded by good people.
I am grateful because I have a good job, my colleagues support me a lot. They recently congratulated me for the changes they see in me and that motivated me more. They make me feel that it is here, that it is possible.
Let's go for more!
